NORTHWICH VIXENS U18s 3 EGERTON FC U17s LADIES 1

The U18s entertained Egerton FC in the latest Cheshire Cup round in what turned out to be an entertaining and hard fought cup tie.
The Vicens started strongly winning midfield battles with Lauren Eaton dominating the central midfield area. We created several good chances and eventually got our reward in the 27th minute with a well taken goal by Olivia Powell. The Egerton keeper continued to frustrate the Vixens with several good saves from Vixens striker Nancy Carter. However in the 44th minute, Egerton scored a great goal with their striker smashing the ball in off the underside of the bar to make it 1 all at half time.

The second half was very competitive, with both teams showing determination to win the game. The ref correctly showed 3 yellow cards cards, 2 to the Vixens, and 1 to Egerton as both team fought for the next goal. In the 74th minute, the Vixens got the breakthrough they deserved when the player of the game Charlotte King finished off a fine move. This set up an exciting finish with Egerton pushing hard for an equaliser, but the Vixens continued to threaten and scored the vital 3rd goal when winger Phoebe Lloyd finished from a tight angle, securing a fine victory.
