Newton-le-Willows FC 2 Northwich Vics Reserves 3

Vics Reserves continued their encouraging start to life in Division 1 of The Cheshire League with an excellent 3-2 victory away at last seasons Division 2 champions, Newton-le-Willows, despite the setback of conceding an early goal.after their man was left free in the box to tap in after a corner. They didnt let this deter them and were back on level terms in the 21st minute when Max Hatton cleverly lobbed the keeper after being put in by a fine ball from skipper Bailey Burke. In a fairly even first half, Newton-le-Willows regained the lead before half-time, yet again leaving a free man at a set piece to beat Cecere.
However, Vics stepped it up at the start of the second half and it wasn't long before they were back on level terms, with the Hynes brothers teaming up in the 60th minute for Conor to turn the ball into the net. A well deserved equaliser after a spell of lots of possession and good football. This continued throughout the half and the winner eventually came late on in the 85th minute as Arron Biddle volleyed in from an incoming corner to give the Reserves an excellent victory away from home.

Manager Ryan Smith said " A great performance particularly in the second half. Even first half I thought we were good value though it was a lot more even, second half I thought we really really came at them, we were the ones who were the aggressors , we were the ones who took the game to them, and with the exception of the last few minutes when game management came into play , I thought we were exceptionally good. I think it was a bit of a more mature performance today and I was really pleased with the way the lads have reacted to last week's disappointing defeat."
