Uttoxeter will feel slightly aggrieved that they didn’t get anything out of this match due to the debatable goal that Vics “scored” but Vics will feel it was the least they deserved having struck the woodwork at least three times beforehand.

After a quiet first few minutes, Vics had their first chance in the 8th minute as Joe Duckworth sent a great ball through, which Kieran Hamm was inches away from touching home. Duckworth himself then beat the offside trap, but saw his shot well saved by Charlie Woods’ legs in the Uttoxeter net. A minute later it was Hamm’s turn to go close again when he had a gilt edged chance to slide the ball home after a good run and pull back from Duckworth. Uttoxeter had their first chance in the 16th minute as they beat the Vics’ offside trap but the resultant shot was poor and well wide. Keogh for Vics then did well to clear a low cross after a quick counter from Uttoxeter. The match then entered a slight lull in action, before Elliott Rokka found space inside the box and drilled a low shot which cannoned off the inside of the post and back into the keeper’s arms. Unlucky ! 42 minutes in and Jake Avery, very much Uttoxeter’s danger man, cut inside and curled a shot just over the bar, whilst just a minute before the half-time break , the ball fell to Sean Higgins on the far side of the box and his half-vollied shot was deflected just over the bar.
A half that Vics mostly dominated but just couldnt find the end product.

HALF TIME : Northwich Vics 0 Uttoxeter Town 0

The second half continued in the same vein as the first had done, with Vics having most of the chances whilst Uttoxeter always looked dangerous when they ventured upfield. Will Lloyd forced a finger tip save from Woods after he struck a rocket from the edge of the area whilst Elliot Rokka fired in a free-kick which Woods made a decent save from. Ten minutes into the half, Town had their first chance of the half as a curling shot from the edge of the area went inches over the bar as Vics failed to close down quick enough. Then in the 60th minute came the goal when substitute Luc Ferry’s effort hit the bar and bounced down on to the line, Hamm then headed the rebound again against the bar before the ball was cleared, however the referee ( and the the liner ) blew the whistle for a goal as they adjudicated that the ball had crossed the line to give Vics the lead. The goal being credited to Luc Ferry, be interesting to see a video of it ! Uttoxeter then had their best spell of the match pushing Vics back with Vics looking for the long ball over the top and the quick break. Indeed, Vics had the best move of the match in the 69th minute as Duckworth and Leo Tanswell teamed up well down the left before finding Will Bentley whose strike cannoned off the crossbar ! Then Vics’ keeper Andre Mendes made two good saves in a couple of minutes as Uttoxeter pushed forward in an effort to get an equaliser. However this left them vulnerable to Vics’ quick attacks and Bentley should have made the game safe as he was sent through one on one in the 78th minute but keeper Woods saved well. A minute later, Vics were unlucky as Keogh powerfully glanced a header against the post. As the match entered the final few minutes, Vics again had a great chance to finish the match off when Duckworth lead a quick break but chose the wrong option to shoot when he had two men free to his right , the shot being easily saved by Woods.
