Another clean sheet and two excellent goals as Vics remain the only unbeaten side in the `league after another excellent game of football down at The Apec Taxis Stadium.

It was a end to end match played at a fast pace with Vics having the first effort after 5 minutes as a Will Lloyd volley was deflected away for a corner. Town were giving as good as they got though, and could have taken the lead on the 10th minute as they caught Vics out at the back but pulled their shot wide when well placed. Two minutes later, Vics were unlucky when Rokka thundered a shot from distance against the bar. So close! Vics were now starting to have the upper hand and playing some quick decisive football. Ferry shot wide after getting on the end of a Rokka cross, then a great move involving Rokka, Lloyd and Duckworth was only stopped by a brilliant diving header from a Town defender. Then Will Lloyd was twice denied in a couple of minutes by the brilliance of Bradley Sullivan in the Town net, firstly he tipped an effort over the bar then at full stretch he saved a curling goal bound shot from Lloyd. The half was drawing to a close when Town next went close as ex Trickie Zeke Eme drove at goal but hit his shot wide of the post.
A fast paced first half somehow closed goalless.

HALF TIME : Northwich Vics 0 Wythenshawe Town 0

Sullivan made a decent save low down from a Rokka free-kick as Vics looked to impose themselves on Town but it was Town who should have taken the lead in the 56th minute. They worked the ball well down the right, cut in and laid the ball off but managed to place the ball wide of the net with only the keeper to beat. A let-off for the Vics.
Will Lloyd was again denied by a great save from Sullivan after a fantastic through ball from Matty Clarke and then Cookson rose highest at a corner at the back post to force another good stop from the keeper as Vics pressed for the opener. This finally arrived in the 67th minute as a superb free-kick from Elliot Rokka skimmed the head of Andy Keogh just enough to deceive Sullivan in the Town net. Town immediately tried to strike back, and Vics had a big let-off in the 75th minute as Town’s striker was free at the far post but failed to get a decisive touch with the goal at his mercy. Mendes was then forced into a fantastic save in the 78th minute scooping the ball up from a driven effort before diving on the second ball. Town were pushing Vics back now, but the defence were standing firm and Vics were looking dangerous on the break. Atkinson had a shot cleared from the line whilst Cookson with another far post header was again denied by a fine save from Sullivan as he tipped the ball over the bar even though the referee ruled he hadn’t touched it ! Then in the 87th minute came the vital second goal as Ryan Atkinson got to the byeline on the left, wriggled his way past 2 or 3 defenders and coolly slipped the ball under the keeper from the tightest of angles, a superb goal from the youngster.
Vics then easily saw the game out to record another victory and head into 3rd place in the league.

An exciting game of football with both sides contributing, but Vics being the more clinical of the two and deserving of all 3 points.
