Vics grabbed a vital point at the death as Adam Bott fired a long range thunderbolt into the net, but in reality its two points dropped for the Vics in which they were in total control at half-time.
Vics started on the front foot, with Aaron Fleming pressing forward down the left and it was Fleming’s great cross in the 9th minute which nearly set up Sean Cooke at the far post but he could only fire into the side netting. However Vics gifted Whitchurch the lead just a minute later as a long throw was sent into the box, Mendes went up to collect under slight pressure from Madeley, and dropped the ball on landing and it rolled into the net! Vics responded well and were level within 5 minutes, as a corner was floated into the box which Harrison headed back across where it fell to Ajay Leitch-Smith who controlled the ball and turned beautifully to fire into the right side of the net. Alex Hughes then went close for Alport with a fizzing shot which was inches over the bar, but Vics took the lead in the 26th minute as Matt Harrison met a long throw from Kandeke just before keeper Sheward could claim and headed home from close range. Vics were looking comfortable now and having most of the ball though without troubling Sheward in the Alport net too much. They did have a goal ruled out just before half time as Matt Harrison stole round the back to meet a free kick well and fire into the net but he was flagged offside, must have been close!
Vics started the second half in the same vein, forcing three early corners. Hamm then headed against the bar in the 49th minute and Alport were lucky not to be down to ten men a minute later as Harry Morris launched himself studs up against Fleming but he somehow escaped with just a Yellow ! However Alport started to get back into the match as Vics seemed happy with their slender lead, and Mendes was forced into a fine save from Ollie Holden. Alport kept pressing and equalised in the 69th minute as a long ball was flicked on Harry Morris for Holden to finish well. Worse was to come for Vics not long after as Whitchurch broke quickly and fed Holden who fired an angled low shot into the bottom corner giving Mendes no chance. Sheward made a superb save from a fine Hamm half volley as Vics went for the equaliser but the game was stop and go as Alport played for time with the Physio being their man of the moment with some great miraculous cures for strange “injuries” However this time wasting was to come back and bite them as in the 97th minute, the ball was half cleared out of the area only for Adam Bott to slam an absolute beauty into the back of the net . There was only time for Alport to kick off before the referee blew his full time whistle.

Vics will be grateful for the late late goal which gave them a point, but really they should have gone for the kill having gone 2 - 1 up instead of allowing Whitchurch back into the match with a bit of sloppy defending.
So onto Saturday and a crucial clash with the new League leaders Hanley Town. A match not to be missed.
