Vics returned to the top of the Midland League with a crackerjack of a performance against Tividale. They stormed into a three goal lead in the first 13 minutes of the match. Firstly Sean Cooke scored a goal of the season contender with a sparkling chip over the keeper from 35 yards out after just 4 minutes which set the tone for the rest of the match.. Four minutes later, it was two as Cooke intercepted a Tividale pass, drove forward before laying in Kieran Hamm who slipped the ball easily into the net. Next it was Will Lloyd who slammed the ball home at the back post after a fine cross from AJ Kandeke. Vics continued to make chances with quick slick passing football. Sean Cooke curled a free kick towards the bottom corner forcing a fine save from Tividale’s keeper Kieran Harrison in the 22nd minute. Ryan Atkinson then should have scored as he met a Max Sutton cross at the far post but he volleyed side footed over the bar. Vics were playing some scintillating football now. Cooke failed to connect properly with a shot after turning on the edge of the box, and Harrison saved easily whilst after a fantastic move, Kandeke fired a powerful shot from the angle which produced a good save. Vics continued to storm forward with Atkinson curling a shot in which nearly sneaked in at the far post in the 40th minute. Then in the final minute of the half, Tividale had their first effort on goal as a free kick dropped for Maslen-Jones who fired wide.
A totally one-sided first half for the Vics whose only disappointed was that they weren’t more than 3 goals up!

Vics quickly put paid to any hopes Tividale might have had of a second half fight-back as in the 51st minute, Jefferson Abreu intercepted a poor back-pass , rounded the keeper and slotted home from a tightish angle. The chances kept coming, Ben Crane volleyed over soon after coming on whilst another substitute , Sam Deering turned brilliantly on the edge of the box and fired a low shot in which forced a fine save from Harrison. Abreu then headed over the bar before in the 64th minute, Deering cleverly slipped Mama Djabi in and he made no mistake in slotting the ball into the net to put Vics five up. It was six just 5 minutes later, Crane was set free down the left, raced into the area and finished powerfully into the bottom corner. Vics weren’t letting up though, and Kandeke was denied by a stunning save by the keeper after he had rifled a shot in on goal. Crane stabbed a volley just wide whilst Matty Clarke got on the end of a cross and headed against the post with the ball rebounding into the goalkeeper’s arms. The only blemish on a superb performance came in the final minute as a Tividale player on a rare foray upfield went in studs up on keeper Mendes which sparked a melee which resulted in Vics’ Matt Harrison receiving a red card.
