Vics secured a decisive 3- 0 win against Uttoxeter Town to earn their first 3 points after their home draw last week v Brocton.
The first half was a scrappy affair as both teams fought out a midfield battle with neither keeper really tested. Harry Davis had a header over the bar from a James Potter free kick early on, whilst Abreu and Atkinson looked lively down the wings. Then in the 32nd minute, a long throw from Kandeke reached Matt Harrison in the area and he headed powerfully home giving the keeper no chance. This settled Vics down, and they started to dominate and just 6 minutes later, Sam Deering flicked a lovely ball into Jefferson Abreu’s path, and he strode into the area and finished beautifully past the on-rushing keeper to put Vics two up.
HALF-TIME : Uttoxeter Town 0 Northwich Vics 2
The Vics came out strongly, and earned a corner in the first minute of the half which was floated in and met by Matt Harrison who again headed past the keeper to give Vics a comfortable three goal advantage. From now on, it was all Vics, Atkinson glanced wide from a Abreu cross, whilst Lloyd and Deering both forced the keeper into good saves. Substitute Mahoney then ran from midfield and struck a good shot which the keeper could only parry away for a corner, from which Harrison headed straight at the keeper. Vics kept pressing but the 4th goal wouldnt come as Crane was first denied by a block tackle as the ball was crossed low by Kandeke, and then he fired wide after a quick break. The only chance for Town came in the 86th minute when a free kick from the edge of the area was brilliantly tipped away by Mendes.
FULL-TIME : Uttoxeter Town 0 Northwich Vics 3
After a scrappy start, it turned into a commanding performance from the Vics with the only disappointment was not turning their dominance in the second half into more goals
