Vics made it 3 wins on the trot with a fine 3 - 1 win against OJM Black Country, but they had to come from behind to achieve it.
Indeed, Vics were second best for the first 20 minutes or so as OJM went ahead after just 2 minutes as they found space down the right which led to a low cross being converted at the back post by Omorodion. Vics were then indebted to Archie Gardiner for an excellent last ditch tackle to stop OJM extending their lead as they continued to press . Vics were now slowly working their way back into the match and getting a grip of the game in midfield. Sam Deering did well in the 15th minute to chase down a long ball, beat his man and fired in a shot which OJM’s keeper Tom Clapp saved well. It was Deering again in the 26th minute who went close as he sent a header from a corner against the bar as Vics looked to turn the game around. Vics were now getting on top and chances were being created. Will Lloyd set up Deering who turned well on the edge of the area and fired an effort at goal which was deflected for a corner. Then it was Lloyd himself who acrobatically volleyed a great cross from Karsten Cairns which was goal bound before being blocked. Vics eventually got their reward in the 38th minute when Deering fed Ben Crane out wide who beat his man, got to the byline and sent a low cross in which was tapped in by debutant Corey Knight. Both sides then had chances to grab the lead as half time loomed. Firstly Sam Gill for Vics fired a shot in which was well blocked as it headed for the corner of the net, and then OJM sent a free header from a corner just over the bar.

HALF-TIME : Northwich Vics 1 OJM Black Country 1

Vics started the second half in the same vein as they ended the first, on the front foot and they quickly took the lead as Will Lloyd drilled a shot in from the edge of the area which found the corner of the net. A minute later, Zac Prior made a great save when he got down quickly to grab the ball just before an OJM attacker could get there. The match settled down a bit now with Vics generally in control, with Ben Crane causing problems down the right and Will Lloyd dominant in midfield. However Prior was forced into another great point blank save in the 70th minute, but it was Vics who made the game safe in the 80th minute when Lloyd won a loose ball and shot from distance which was turned away for a corner. The corner was swung in, but only partially cleared by OJM to Matt Farnworth whose shot was blocked, but the ball fell to Sam Deering who made no mistake. Vics played out the final 10 minutes without concern to pick up their third 3 points on the run.

An excellent all round performance by the Vics especially after going a goal down so early on to record a well deserved victory to set them up for next week’s visit to league leaders Lichfield City.
