GOALS - OJM Black Country : Collins 14’, Walker 56’, Keough 65’, Mayemba 74’
A poor performance by the Vics despite plenty of possession but little creativity and well beaten by a team who did the basics well.
An even start to the match but it was OJM who took the lead as a free kick was played into the edge of the area, the ball was laid off to Collins who fired in past Barry. Vics were offering little despite having plenty of the ball and didn’t really test the giant Tom Clapp in the OJM net. Mayemba fired a shot wide of the Vics post for OJM whilst Vics debutant, the industrious Kieran Hamm finally forced Clapp into a save in the 36th minute with a shot from the edge of the area.
HALF-TIME : OJM Black Country 1 Northwich Vics 0
It only took OJM 11 minutes of the second half to increase their lead as a free kick from the left was cleared, but recycled back into the box for Nathan Walker to stab the ball home. Ten minutes later it was 3 as Keough flicked a low header past Barry from a free kick. Another ten minutes and it was four, as Vics gave away the ball allowing Star Mayemba to break quickly and slot the ball easily past Barry. All too easy. Will Lloyd did finally force Clapp into a diving save to tip a thunderous shot wide but that was about as good as it got for a dispirited Vics.
FULL-TIME : OJM Black Country 4 Northwich Vics 0
An uninspiring performance on a difficult pitch, but no excuses, OJM were better prepared to battle, took their chances whilst Vics looked short on confidence and tired as the game went on. At least they now have two weeks before the next competitive fixture for the new management team to work their magic .
