Northwich Victoria claimed early pre-season silverware as they edged local rivals Witton Albion on penalties to win the Vijay Anthwal Shield, following a closely contested 1–1 draw in regular time.

First Half:
Vics started the brighter of the two sides, particularly down the right flank where Kandeke’s pace and direct running caused Witton problems on the counter. However, momentum began to shift midway through the half, with Witton asserting themselves and enjoying a dominant spell of possession.
