Vics crashed out of the FA Cup after a lack lustre display against Burscough who took the lead after only 5minutes when Matty Ward slotted home after a right wing cross. Vics nearly equalised after 36 minutes when Gorman skinned the left back and his ball across was knocked against the post by a Burscough defender. Vics were now pressurising the Burscough defence but it was Burscough who scored on the stroke of half time when Cummings rose highest to head home from a Burscough free kick.

Vics should have had a penalty early in the second half when a Burscough defender handled the ball after Doran caused havoc in their box, but Referee and linesman turned a blind eye to the claims. The match then meandered along with Burscough easily managing to cope with Vics efforts to get back in the game whilst always looking capable of scoring a third and indeed only a fine save by Taberner from close range kept the score line down.
