U18’s Matty and Will sign up for the senior Team

Pre-season training has brought some fantastic news for both Matty Shaw and Will Smith who have both impressed manager Paul Moore enough to sign for the senior team for the up and coming 2017/2018 season. Both lads are products of the Northwich Victoria Juniors academy whose FA Standard Charter Links with the club have really begun to produce some exciting talent for the Vic’s
The two lads made the following comments:

Matty Shaw

I'd like to thank Northwich Vic’s Juniors for helping me reach the first team last season, Dave Smith and Joe Ormrod have done a great job improving my skills at junior level, and I believe they have given me a the confidence to kick on, and improve each game.

I'm looking forward to my first full season with the club, as last year I joined midway through the campaign, but even though we didn't get the results we wanted, I gained valuable experience from those tests we faced last season, our job now is to fight for promotion and there is a positive vibe around the squad during pre-season, and we all feel that this season can be a good one for us. Personally, I feel as if the upcoming season will be a very important one for me, as I try to get more time on the pitch, I’ve been working very hard during the off season, and hopefully we will start to get the results the team and the fans deserve.

Will Smith

I’m very excited about joining the Club and would like to thank the boss Paul Moore for the opportunity.
I’ve been at the Club since I was eight years old and watched them as I was growing up, so I’m fully aware of the size of the Club and their fantastic support.
For me personally it’s been a really successful period in my football career, I was part of the West Cheshire College U19 side that won their league and cup double this season and signing for Northwich Victoria has been a real high point.
I’m only seventeen but over the last couple of seasons I’ve gained some valuable senior experience training with North West Counties side Northwich Flixton Villa and playing in a highly competitive senior league last season.
It’s great that Northwich Juniors have created a pathway here that if you do well on and off the pitch, there is a route into the first team as fellow team-mate Matty Shaw proved last season.
Now it’s a case of getting my head down working hard, developing further and pushing for a place in the squad.

Dave Smith – Chairman – Northwich Victoria Juniors

We are very proud of both Matty and Will and their journey within the Northwich Victoria Juniors through to the senior team. The work we have done with the FA and the Standard Charter Status has given us a real pathway through to adult football and we are delighted that the lads have made the mark and hopefully will be the first of many.
I’d like to thank Paul Moore and Northwich Vic’s for our continued relationship and partnership and the juniors are extremely proud to be a part of this proud historical club.
