NEW SIGNING : ALEX HUGHES
Northwich Victoria are delighted to announce the first signing of the new era with proven goalscorer ALEX HUGHES agreeing to join the Club!
Alex, 30 years old has a track record of scoring goals in the Midland League Premier Division including 65 goals in two and a half seasons whilst with Whitchurch Alport. Alex finished top goalscorer in the league in 2022 and whilst with Whitchurch Alport making the team of the season for Step 5. He backed this up the following season with another 25 goals and a hat-trick in the FA Vase 5th Round, all this despite carrying an injury throughout the campaign. He had been with Whitchurch Alport for 9 season scoring an impressive 111 goals in 244 appearances for them before giving football at this level a break in March 2024.
Since then, Alex has had a number of offers in the last 12 months including at step 4 but has been enjoying playing his football for Shrewsbury Up & Comers in the Shropshire Leisure League where he has scored 29 in 15 games so far. However thankfully the lure of joining Northwich Victoria and the ambitions of the Club , he has decided now is the right time to make the move.
We are sure the Trickies faithful will be excited to see Alex Hughes in the famous green and white shirt as we look to push forward in our exciting new era under Lee Duckworth & Luke Goddard.
ALEX HUGHES VIEW :
"I'm delighted to be joining such a big club as Northwich Victoria. The fans and people involved make it suck and amazing Club, and as soon as I spoke to Luke and Ducko, I knew it was the right thing to do. I have great memories from the Midland League with my time at Whitchurch Alport, hopefully I can come back and create some more history for Northwich Victoria"
DUCKO'sVIEW
"Alex worked with myself and Luke previously at Alsager Town and with Luke prior to that too. He's got proven quality and is a natural goal scorer but his all round game offers so much more. His pedigree is there to see from being leading scorer in this League before so Im delighted we got him over the line to join the Club full time. Big thanks to Shrewsbury Up and Comers who have been terrific with him in getting this sorted. Im sure Alex will quickly become a fans favourite."
