Jimmy signed for Northwich Victoria from Buxton FC in 1974 and in his first season for Vics, he scored 45 goals in 56 games. Only two other Northwich players have better records in the Club"s history.
However the lure of the growing football scene in the United States of America saw him sign for the Los Angeles Skyhawks in the American Soccer League where he had many seasons before joining California Sunshine in 1980.
He then played for the San Francisco Fog during the 1980-1981 Major Indoor Soccer League season.
In 1976 whilst still being on the Los Angeles Skyhawks" books, he returned to Vics for a short spell, scoring a vital goal in the Club"s FA Cup run of that season . In that same season, his team, Los Angeles Skyhawks won the league championship and Jimmy was the team's leading scorer as well as the League"s second leading scorer. He was also the American Soccer League's leading scorer in 1978.
