RED CARDS
Litherland : Powell 18' Foy 88'

You wouldn't have known that this was Vics' third away match in 5 days, as they started in blistering fashion with Robert Doran latching onto a through ball in the 2nd minute, holding off his defender with ease and slipping the ball past Wilson in the Litherland net to give The Vics an early lead. Vics were alreay looking comfortable, and in the 18th minute, their task became easier as Litherland's No 5, Joel Powell was given the Red card for an off the ball incident , though It was unclear what had happened. No complaints from Litherland though. Immediate advantage was nearly taken as Matthews brought a long ball under control well, but his shot went narrowly wide. 24 minutes in, Litherland had their first real effort, but what a goal it would have been as Colin Quirk fired the ball from just inside his own half , as he spotted Thomas Scott out of his goal, but to Litherland's dismay the ball was just over the bar. Vics extended their lead in the 29th minute, when Doran turned his man in the area, and was promptly brought down, Joel Brownhill converted the resulting penalty with ease. Vics started to ease off now, and they were nearly made to pay for it, when Whelwell was clear through on goal, but Thomas Scott did excellently to deny him.

HALF-TIME - Litherland REMYCA 0 Northwich Vics 2

The second half started quietly, but still Vics extended their lead in the 56th minute, when Vics earned a free kick wide on the right where it was played into Rob Doran who had peeled off his defender to the back post. Doran headed it back across goal for Dominic Craig to meet it and smash it into the net. A well worked training ground move . Vics nearly grabbed their 4th just a couple of minutes later as Brian Matthews jinked past his defender and curled a shot which the keeper could only parry out to Dom Craig but he was denied by a last ditch tackle from a Litherland defender. Two minutes later, Joel Brownhill converted another penalty after he himself had been clumsily taken down by keeper Wilson who had made a hash of a cross. Now it was training ground stuff from Vics, with Paul Ennis looking particularly impressive having come on for Brian Matthews. Ennis nearly made it two screamers in 2 matches, as he cut in from the left, and let fly, but this time the ball whistled just past the post. Litherland were then down to 9 men, as Paul Foy earned himself 2 Yellows within 5 minutes of each other, the 2nd being for a horrendous challenge on Ennis. A 3rd penalty was awarded to Vics in the last minute, as Ennis was again taken out , this time in the area, and it was Robert Doran who stepped up and blasted the ball into the net to make score a resounding 5 -0 to The Vics.

Vics’ Boss Steve Wilkes post match verdict on the five star display -

"Another fantastic performance from the group this evening. Everyone knows we’ve played 3 games in 5 days now and to get back to back wins after Saturdays defeat shows the character we have in the group. I made 8 changes on Monday and made another 8 changes tonight but the way we played, you’d have thought the same side had played in both matches. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, the attitude of the squad has been brilliant all season. Of course everyone wants to play every game, but they know that’s not possible. A special mention to Joe Camozzi and Brandon Barski who started all 3 games this week. That’s a tremendous effort. On to Sunday now, and hopefully another 3pts in the quest for third spot in the table. "

Another dramatic game for the Vics, 5 goals, 3 Penalties, 2 Red Cards , looks like Wincham Park will be the place to be on Sunday 7th when Vics take on Burscough in the Hallmark Security League :
Next Match : Home on SUNDAY 7th April 2019 v Burscough 3.00pm kick off.
