A lively entertaining match despite the goalless score-line. Vics had the first chance, after some intricate play down the wing by Darr, Camozzi and Whyte led to Joe Camozzi's cross being met by John Connolly but he couldn't get enough power on his header to trouble the Ashton keeper. It was Connolly again in the 19th minute who had a chance after being well set up by Jordan Darr's driving run and Harvey Whyte's pass, however his curled effort was just wide of the post. 31 minutes in, and after a long ball caused panic in the Ashton area, Joel Brownhill couldn't quite finish after being found by Connolly's header. Vics again came close just a minute later, as Joel Browhill recovered the ball well and put a cross in which Jordan Darr was just unable to connect with at the back post as he came in on the stretch. Ashton's best effort came after 38 minutes, when they were awarded a free kick just outside the area, but Danny Taberner produced an excellent save when it seemed destined to fly into the top corner of the net.

HALF-TIME - Vics 0-0 Ashton Athletic.

The second half was quieter with Vics doing all the pressing with Ashton content to play on the break when they could. Jordan Darr
managed to play Dominic Craig in, after 61 minutes, but he couldn't find the finish. However Vics best chance to grab all 3 points, was in the 81st minute when Joe Camozzi wriggled past 2 defenders on the bye-line, and laid the ball across, but Brian Matthews couldn't quite get enough power on the ball with his outstretched leg as he lay on the ground after his initial effort was well blocked. Vics kept pressing but despite late corners they couldn't find a way through a resolute Ashton defence.

FULL-TIME - Vics 0 -0 Ashton Ath

Vics’ MOM - Jack Fleming.
