Vics were denied victory by a great comeback by Town.

Although Town had the first main chance after 4 minutes when Liam Myers struck a shot from the edge of the area which went just over the bar, Vics raced into a 3 goal lead in the first 15 minutes thanks to a "perfect" hat=trick from Jamie Reed. Firstly, Vics were awarded a penalty after 7 minutes when a cleared corner fell to Matty Clarke whose goal-bound shot was stopped by a Wythenshawe arm. Jamie Reed confidently scored from the spot with his right foot. Then a free kick was floated over the Town defence to the left of the area where Reed slid in to strike the ball home with his left foot. He completed his hat-trick 3 minutes later when Harvey Whyte crossed well to find him unmarked at the back post and he headed past Jakovlevs in the Town goal. Wythenshawe Town pulled one back though in the 26th minute, when a long kick from the keeper was headed on , and hesitation in the Vics defence left Pilkington to round Taberner and slot the ball into the net to make it 3 - 1. However Vics soon restored their 3 goal cushion, as a though ball found Rob Doran who controlled it well, turned his man well and fired the ball past the advancing goalkeeper. But yet again, Wythenshawe Town cut the lead to 2 goals , when in the 34th minute, Pilkington did well down the right, cut in and the ball fell to Brad Byrne whose shot was well blocked but the ball ricocheted to the waiting Myers who struck the ball into an empty net. Vics nearly restored the 3 goal lead immediately as Rob Doran rampaged down the left, and his shot bounced off a Town defender for Jamie reed to strike a volley from the edge of the area which was well touched to safety by Jakovlevs in the Town goal.

HALF-TIME : Northwich Vics 4 Wythenshawe Town 2

Vics stormed out of the blocks in the second half, and within 10 seconds, Rob Doran neatly played a ball into Saul Henderson's path and he sweetly struck the ball into the bottom right of the net with his left foot. But still Town came back, and 6 minutes into the second half, former Vics captain Michael Clarke stole in to head the ball into the net just before Taberner could claim it. In the 59th minute, Town nearly pulled another back, as full back Jerome Wright escaped down the left, and pulled the ball back to the waiting Pilkington but he miscued his shot wide. However, just a minute later, they made no mistake as the ball was played into Brad Byrne on the right of the area, and his well struck shot found the bottom corner to being Town right back into the match. The comeback was completed in the 66th minute when Conor Brotherton fired in a shot from a similar area , and the ball squeezed under Taberner's body to make the scoreline 5 all. in the 74th minute, Vics earned a corner, which was quickly played to Harvey Whyte, but his powerful shot struck Jamie Reed and deflected just past the post. In the 83rd minute, Town's Pilkington should have done better with his shot straight at taberner after a good run down the left. In the final minute of normal time, Vics nearly snatched it, as Henderson fired a shot in which went agonisingly wide right. 30 minutes of extra-time to be played.

End of Normal Time : Northwich Vics 5 Wythenshawe Town 5

By now, the players on both sides were looking tired, and chances were at a minimum especially compared with the hectic first 65 minutes of this match. Vics went close in the 9th minute of extra time, when a lovely through ball found Danny Vinten down the left and his passed cross into the box just evaded Jamie Reed sliding in at the far post. A minute before half time in extra time, Jack Timmons evaded a Vics defender, to create room for a shot but it went wide of the left post. The second period of extra time petered out with both sides settling for a draw with only a couple fo half chances being created.

Final Score : Northwich Vics 5 Wythenshawe Town 5
Replay Tuesday 5th November at Ericstan Park , Wythenshawe 7.45pm. The winners of this tie will have a home tie against Consett Town of the Northern league in the 3rd Round
