Vics were dramatically denied a place in the next round of the FA Cup by a last gasp penalty given for handball to Silsden, even though the ball came off a Silsden arm.

The first real chance fell to Silsden after 6 minutes, when a long kick by the keeper was collected by Shazad and laid back to Kirby on the edge of the area, but his shot was sailed over the crossbar without troubling Danny Taberner. It was the same combination again that did give Silsden the lead in the 14th minute, when they broke quickly and Shazad did well down the left and laid the ball into Kirby 6 yards out with his back to goal, and he cleverly back-heeled the ball between Taberner and Barski into the net. Vics were soon back level, when they earnt a corner on the left which was whipped in and Keiron Kenny powered a header towards goal, and Matty Clarke nipped in to get a touch to deflect it past Darke in the Silsden net. Silsden should have retaken the lead when another quick break left Kirby free through on goal, but he wasn't quick enough to escape the attentions of Keiron Kenny or the onrushing Taberner and he could only poke the ball wide. 37 minutes in, and Vics were close when Ryan Winder won the ball in midfield and stormed into the area, and fired a shot which Darke did well to tip onto the post , and Connolly was just unable to get to the ball first as it rolled along the goal line.

Half time : Vics 1 Silsden 1

The second half began with Vics pushing forward, and after 52 minutes, a Ryan Winder free kick was only partially cleared to Rob Doran on the left side of the penalty area, but his powerful shot crashed back from the post with the keeper beaten. Vics were building the pressure up now, and after some patient build up play, Ryan Winder let on fly from 30 yards which was just wide. After 55 minutes, more good patient build up play, saw Martin Grundy play a peach of a ball into the area which found Morgan Crowther stealing in on the far post but his goal bound flick was brilliantly saved by Alfie Darke. Vics did take a well deserved lead just a minute later as a brilliant cross from Brandon Barski from the left was met by Matty Clarke who neatly side footed the ball into the back of the net. 62 minutes in, and Vics were close again as the ball was put back into the area after an only partially corner and Keiron Kenny put his header just wide. The next chance fell to Silsden though, as their winger, Sorhaindo did well in the area, and fired a shot which hit the right hand post before being cleared to safety. Vics appeared to be heading towards a victory as a Shazad effort went high and wide in the 89th minute, but in the 91st minute, the ball was recycled back into the Vics' area, and clearly struck Silsden's substitute Daniel Illingworth's arm as he got infront of Michael Wilson, but the referee saw it differently and awarded a penalty for handball against Wilson! Aiden Kirby confidently and cooly struck the penalty to Taberner's left as he dived right.
