Vics reached the final of the Mid-Cheshire Cup with a comfortable victory over 1874 Northwich at Wincham Park in a game with little flowing football and few chances.

Indeed, the first half real effort on goal for either team didn't come until the 14th minute when Matthew Woolley interecepted a loose Vics' pass, strode forward but his shot sailed high over the goal without troubling Danny Taberner. Vics' first effort came after 21 minutes, as Darrhyl Mason collected a long ball from Taberner ahead of 1874's keeper Tony Aghayere, and laid the ball off to Ryan Winder , but he couldn't find the finish. 27 minutes in, and Vics earned a free-kick which Jack Fleming whipped in, which Agheyere could only parry out to wards Darrhyl Mason, but he couldn't control his header and the ball went out for a goal kick. The final 15 minutes of the half were played out with little happening apart from a couple of easily cleared corners for 1874.

HALF-TIME - Vics 0-0 1874
A bit more action in the second half, and after good work by Matty Russell and Sam Hare led to Hare's deflected cross being well tipped round the post by Danny Taberner. Then after 55 minutes, a good free-kick from Taylor Kennedy was met by a skimming header by Mark Jones but Taberner was equal to the effort. Vics immediately went up the other end, and were awarded a penalty as Jack Pritchard brought Dominic Craig down in the box as he twisted and turned towards goal. Joel Brownhill stepped up and confidently smashed the ball down the middle to give the Vics the lead. 1874 were now pressing Vics but without creating any chances, with Vics' defence looking firm and unruffled, and indeed it was Vics who nearly extended their lead in the 75th minute as Dominic Craig again wriggled into the box, but Agheyere was well positioned to save his effort. A minute later, Aaron Smith produced 1874's best moment as he found space and flashed a shot just wide of Taberner's goal. However it was Vics who sealed the match after 81 minutes when Jordan Darr, who had just come on, skilfully beat the last defender, and absolutely rifled a tremendous finish into the top corner of the net. Unstoppable !
Vics then managed the game out well without undue concern, with Kennedy's header from a free kick in the last minute of injury time being the closest 1874 could come.

FULL-TIME - Vics 2 -0 1874
