This 3rd Round Macron Cup tie kicked off in chilly conditions with a cold wind blowing and it was Vics who started brightly with Darrhyl Mason driving his way down the right, but his pass just evaded Brian Matthews in front of goal . After 20 minutes, Harvey Whyte played a first time ball in from the right which Matthews met with a volley which took a big deflection which forced it onto the outside of the post, Close ! The half continued as a well contested affair, though with Vics creating the better chances and Cooke was unlucky when his free kick hit the post after 28 minutes. Danny Taberner was forced into a great save after 32 minutes but shortly afterwards Darrhyl Mason found himself clear and coolly slotted the ball past the Cheadle keeper to put the Vics ahead. On the stroke of half-time, Joel Brownhill nearly created a second after good work in the box nipping round a couple of defenders but his shot was blocked.

HALF-TIME - Vics 1-0 Cheadle Town.

A quiet start to the second half, with both teams pressing without creating any clear cut chances. However after 59 minutes, Vics gained a corner from the right , which was whipped into the near post where Harvey Whyte met it with a powerful header to put the Vics into a two goal lead. This however spurred Cheadle Town and after 62 minutes, Clooney struck from a right wing cross . This was quickly followed by Cheadle gaining a penalty after a trip in the box, a chance that that Joe Neild calmly took by sending Taberner the wrong way to level the scores. However , after 73 minutes, a mistake in the Cheadle defence left Brownhill one on one against the keeper, and like Mason before him, he calmly slotted the ball under him . Vics pushed on, and substitute Robert Doran made the game safe after 85 minutes with another smooth finish and the game was rounded off in injury time when Doran cut in from the left, and fired a shot inside the near post to make the score 5-2 to the Vics.
