This League game kicked off in chilly conditions and it was Vics who had the better of the early stages, though without creating too many opportunities with the only highlight, or rather lowlight, of the first 20 minutes being a crude challenge on Joel Brownhill by Charnock's Mark Woods which earned him a yellow card which could easily have been red. The half continued as a well contested affair, though with few chances. Billy Whittle put a header just over the bar when well placed and by now, Charnock were becoming more of a threat. As half time approached, first Grimshaw , and then Mark Adams had powerful efforts from the edge of the box, both of which went just wide of the left hand post.

HALF-TIME - Charnock Richard 0-0 Vics.

Vics again started the second half on the front foot, taking the game to Charnock and after 53 minutes, Joel Brownhill turned smartly in the box and drilled a shot towards the corner of the net but keeper Adam Halton managed to just tip it round the post for a corner which came to nothing. After 62 minutes, Darrhyl Mason turned Woods and was promptly pulled back by the Charnock man, to earn himself his second yellow and an early bath. This seemed to spur Charnock on, and Adams had a shot tipped over the bar, after a knock down by Grimshaw, and the miss-communication in the Vics' defence left a defensive header rolling towards the Vics' net, but Danny Taberner somehow managed to get back and boot the ball to safety. After 69 minutes, Vics made the break through, when a beautiful chipped cross from Harvey Whyte found Joel Brownhill in space at the back post and he superbly vollied the ball into the back of the net. After 74 minutes substitute Jordan Darr came on, and just 4 minutes later, he cut in from the left, beating three defenders and fired a shot goal-bound which Halton did well to parry, but Darrhyl Mason reacted quickest and slid the ball into the net to give Vics a two goal cushion. Charnock now had nothing to lose, and pushed forward, and Brandon Barski was forced to head over his own bar, whilst Taberner produced another good save from a Noblet shot. In the first minute of injury time, a 50-50 tackle in the middle of the park earned Kirtis Monson a straight red card, presumably for studs up though it was hard to see from where we were, and there were few complaints from the Vics' players. Charnock continued to push, and in the last minute, Grimshaw scrambled the ball into the Vics' net from a corner, but all too late for Charnock as the whistle went almost immediately after the restart.

Vics’ M.O.M - Darrhyl Mason. Hardworking display from the Vics' striker with plenty of skill and reacted quickest for his well deserved goal.

Steve Wilkes' Reaction to the Match
" Another tough 3 points, I think the score-line flatters Charnock slightly, especially after our second half performance. The big disappointment from Saturday is obviously the sending off of Kirtis Monson, I think everyone at the game saw that it wasn't a straight red, but when players of both sides go steaming in, and Charnock have had a man sent off earlier, it's an easy decision for the ref to even things up.
Overall though, I'm pleased, especially as it's 9 points out of 9 this week in the League. We'll be hoping to making it 12 in 12 on Tuesday night at Barnoldswick who themselves are going really well at the moment."

Up next for Vics’ is an AWAY league game Vs Barnoldswick Town on Tuesday 27th November with kick-off at 19.45 .
