A quiet opening to the match with Vics which saw Mike Aspin making his Vics debut (again), having the best of the play but creating few chances, with only an Oscar Durnin shot going wide, and a floated free kick into the box which Matthews and Shinks just failed to get on the end of, were of note. Charnock Richard took the lead after 30 minutes, slightly against the run of play when Noblet played a great cross in, which the league’s top goalscorer, Grimshaw got his head to and thumped the ball past Donlan in the Vics net. The first half closed with Charnock now dominant and Donlan was forced into a great save from Noblets free kick after 42 minutes.

Charnock Richard kicked off the second half as they had finished the first, on top and having most of the chances to increase their lead. Noblet, Young and Grimshaw all missed chances to make the game safe for them as Vics struggled to create any meaningful chances. Jay Hart did force Adam Halton into a decent save after 76 minutes after good work down the left, but Charnock got the second they deserved when a through ball was played to Grimshaw who fired an unstoppable shot into the top of the Vics net on 88 minutes.

Deserved win for Charnock Richard who controlled the match after they scored in the first half. As for Vics, had their chances in the first half hour which they failed to take, and least said about the second half the better!
