Northwich Victoria v Winsford United: 19th August.
Vics got off to the worst possible start when in the first minute Mike Koral raced down the wing, crossed for Cottrell to lay the ball off for Gardner to finish well past Mottram. Vics’ hopes of getting back into the match weren’t helped when in-form striker Brian Matthews limped off after only 13 minutes, to be replaced by Jordan Cobley. Winsford increased their lead after 22 minutes, when Scotty Taylor headed home at the far post from a cross from Gardner. 35 minutes in, and it got worse, as Mike Koral broke down the wing, crossed the ball in allowing Danny Kerr to poke the ball home past a static Vics’ defence.
Half Time: Northwich Vics 0 Winsford Utd 3
Vics, although playing better in the second half, still struggled to make any impact on the Winsford defence, and it was no surprise when Winsford scored a fourth, as a well struck shot by Skolorzynski crept into the far corner of the Vics’ net after 65 minutes. The rest of the match was then quietly played out with not a lot happening apart from the usual substitutions.
Final Score: Northwich Vics 0 Winsford Utd 4
Credit to Winsford as they took full advantage of a poor Vics’ performance who were never at the races.
Vics MOM: Stuart McDonald, another hard working 100% display as ever.
