AFC Liverpool v Northwich Victoria : League 1st November 2017:
After an early chance for Vics when Matthews burst throughbut couldn’t keep his shot down, AFC Liverpool dominated the first 45 minutes and it was no surprise when after 18 minutes AFC took the lead. Smith received the ball on to the edge of the area, set himself with a good first touch and lobbed Donlon with an outrageous looping shot from 20 yards out. Vics somehow managed to restrict AFC Liverpool to half chances, and only a superb save from Garner in the AFC net from a Matthews header kept the score at 1 – 0 at half time.

A half time talking to woke the Vics up, and immediately good perseverance by Matthews led to a mix up between the keeper and a defender, and the Vics top scorer expertly lobbed the loose ball in the net to equalise. However AFC’s lead was restored after 54 minutes when Whittington was allowed to get away a shot that crept into the Vics net. Vics were undeterred , and just 6 minutes later, Jay Hart reacted quickest at a corner and buried a shot past Garner. Northwich were now having the best of the play, and after 73 minutes, the Liverpool defence backed off from Hart , who duly obliged with a screamer from outside the box. A magnificent strike. Liverpool responded well, and Donlon was forced into a couple of fine saves, but it was no surprise when Jordan Grant crept into the far side of the box, and hit a magnificently struck shot ( well, might have been slightly scuffed! ) which trickled over the line to increase the Vics lead after 86 minutes.
