A closely fought match full of good football from both teams decided by fine margins.

A goalless first half though both teams had their chances . Marcus Perry went close for Vics as his shot from a corner was deflected wide after 9 minutes whilst Tom Pope put a free header over the bar from a corner for Witton a few minutes later. Eli Fisher then teed up Will Lloyd well placed inside the area, but he couldn’t get his shot away first time and the chance went away, whilst Joe Camozzi shanked a shot wide from the corner of the box as Vics pressed for an opener. Adam Reid had to dive quickly to his right to push away a stinging shot from Witton , whilst his opposite number in the Witton goal did well to stop a Fisher shot just before half time.

HALF-TIME : Witton Albion 0 Northwich Vics 0

The second half continued in the same fashion as the first, Pope headed down for Duckworth, but his effort was blocked for a corner, whilst Roberts in the Witton net briliantly tipped over a Dylan Switters half volley to deny him the opener. Witton then had their best spell as only a great last ditch tackle from Matty Clarke denied them a near certain goal, then Reid had to stop a skidding shot from distance. However, Witton did take the lead in the 66th minute after a quick break down the right and Joe Duckworth fired into the far corner of the net. However Vics weren’t disheartened and just 7 minutes later , they were level as Will Lloyd collected the ball just outside the area and smashed the ball into the net giving Roberts no chance. The action wasn’t over though as Witton earned a corner in the 78th minute which was swung in, Reid looked to have collected it but the ball fell loose and was put into the net by Brazel to put Witton in the lead again. Vics pressed for equaliser but Witton remained firm and held on for the victory.

FULL-TIME : Witton Albion 2 Northwich Vics 1

Congratulations to Witton for their victory, but Vics have plenty to be proud of as they pushed them to the limit and the match could have gone either way.
